Fishing Oroville Lake 04/20/2017

Post by Tom Gronwall »

Got launched at Lime Saddle about 6:30am, again, 50 foot of wood stacked up on the ramp. Crazy how that stuff picks the ramp for the night! Still a tad slow bite as the water still not warming up, high 54.8 degrees in my travels. Last year 62 degrees in the beginning of April. Slow to warm this year. Once you find fish, great bite, finding them is the tough part. No big fish, caught only 7 basic 13" variety. Fished Lime saddle area and out to the end of the west fork. Last year this time, bit was darn near wide open. My guess 2-3 more weeks and bite should be full on.

I figured out why all the wood each launch, mid morning they take the shuttle like boats, line them up, and use the motors to push the wood out past the docks, into the bay, the natural winds blow it right back in during the evening.!! So wrong, since the dock owners are responsible to keep the ramp in decent shape!!

Went yesterday and smoked em. 50 fish day easy. Nothing big though. Took a new guy out that had never even casted a rod before. So I figured numbers were better then trying to go for size.
