Konacti Vista Hotel-unfriendly to boaters

Post by scubaman »

Why has this hotel become so unfriendly towards boaters when they are such a huge part of their business.

Issues I had over this last weekend:
I was told on check in it was okay to park my trailer with my boat on it if was detached...so I complied and was good on night one. The following night I receive a call at 10 pm telling me to move it. I told them that my boat was there because I was told it was okay and that I had parked my truck in the other lot instead of my boat....which was still not okay...this made no sense....I was only taking up one of their precious parking spaces
1.) You woke me up ...terrible service
2.) I was told it was okay to leave boat there. Staff needs to be on same page
3.) Understanding you are under construction but why have the construction site so close to the hotel...let inconvenience the guest instead of the construction crew.
4.) why have such a big section of your guest parking marked employee....employee should park in the offsite parking not the guest.
5.) I will not put my boat in the dirt lot unless Konacti Casino is going to take 100% liability of it is broken into or stolen..

I have been in the hospitality industry for 30 plus years...this hotel management team needs help!!!!

They have lost my business....

I agree. They need help. They have poor customer service and always have in comparison to any other average hotel.

Just stayed there last weekend also and also had a bad experience. First off checked in for two nights. Told them we were fishing BBT. They said since we weren't there for the cal open and or the Fresno club tournament and that the host Marina for our tournament was red bud that we couldn't get the fisherman discount. So instead of paying $150 for two nights it was $250. Then went to plug the boat in after a day of fishing and half of the electrical outlets on the docks didn't work. One of the three docks had no power whatsoever. Finally got home from dinner one night and both keys to room didn't work. After two trips to the office, someone came down and unlocked our room saying "the locks get stuck sometimes." So that was our recent konocti vista experience. I will do everything possible from now on to avoid staying at the casino.

I to had a bad experience while up there for the CTT PRO/am, same deal, reserved a room hotel side so I could park the boat in front of the room as I have done on several occasions before with no issues, night one no problem, night two huge issue with the security guard even though the hotel desk said no problem as long as boat is detached, note the signs in the parking lot state all "empty" trailers must park in the gravel lot. Long story short if they are catering to the bass anglers which bring them a ton of business they sure are not showing it lately. I have personally spent thousands of dollars there over the decade plus I have been staying there. I will no more. I will find alternate lodging for my clear lake ventures from now on. It is just to bad as they really have an ideal situation but the way I was treated by the security staff I will not spend another dime there period.

I was done with that place years ago! after the maid left my room door wide open ' all day while we were out pre fishing !.. we had left a lot of very expensive tackle & equipment in the room for all to see ' walking by all day long !. we got lucky and didn't loose any thing !.... now we just rent a house & don't have to worry about poor treatment & lazy maids !....

I guess the best thing to do is leave a bad yelp review. This way the company might realize the error in their ways and correct it for future fishermen.

Konocti Vista Topic removed????

Post by 185vsfrog »

How come the Konocti Vista topic was removed from the forum? Are they one of western bass sponsors? Fishermen have the right to know good places to stay on lakes and also places they should steer clear from.

Yup they are a sponsor so even though it wasn't a derogatory post but an informative post, it was removed. Typical........ I still will not spend another dime there until they reconsider their new policy.... the working Bass angler spending their hard earned dollars bottom line. Seems as though it is a trend and several "anglers" have had the same issue recently.

The post was left while discussing the issue.

It was removed when the name calling started. This isn't the place for derogatory or inflammatory names to persons or groups of persons.

Topics are rarely removed here. This is the first I can recount. Sponsors like Konocti are paying the bills for WB were not. The last time I was in a room there it was comparable to a motel 6.
They have remodeled and probably still in the process of remodeling so maybe they're better now. The rates aren't that bad when given the tournament discount. The staff has been nice when I was there but everyone has their own experience. They might need to be put in check but its better having them around then not.

My last stay at Konocti although it was a couple of years ago, was plesant. The rooms were less than desired but hey, I was there to go fishing not hamg out in the room and the staff was very helpful. Could there be a change in personnel? I was planning to return but now I'm skeptical.

I had been reading the original post and I don't remember any name calling. Complaining yes. In regards to this " not being the place for derogatory or inflammatory names to persons or groups." You just have to look at the post in regards to Steve Sapp where he is being called a lier, a cheat and a thief without any evidence, and you will find the reasons for the removal is not
what the wb staff claims. But in fact one of sponsors was being complained about.
Wb staff has the right to remove anything they want from the forum, but they should be honest about the reasons why.

Thank you KVC, Heather Begun and Staff !!!

Post by Fast 492 »

I have stayed at Konocti Vista Casino several times over the years and Heather Begun and the Staff at the Hotel have always been helpful to us. They have been remodeling the rooms and they look great as well as comfortable. They have security guards that walk/patrol the docks and parking lots when the tournaments are there and the power on the docks is a real plus, sometimes the GFI plugs pop because of the high demand some chargers put on them. Are there problems sometimes, yes,, are those problems sometimes the result of how people approach other people, yes,, roll with it people, relax and remember that you are not owed anything in this life and to treat people how you would like to be treated if you were in their shoes.... Keep up the good work KVC, we the fisherman appreciate what you do for us....

I have also been following this thread. I think the reason the topic was removed was because of a racist/derogatory comment about the Native American ownership/management of the Casino.

That said, why couldn't that one reply have been deleted and the rest of the thread left intact?

Western Outdoor Forum response:

Konocti Vista Casino Resort would like to express regret for any inconvenience in guest’s recent stays at our hotel and casino. The recent historically rainy winter and lake levels have delayed a planned construction of a new 20,000 square foot casino building that will tie the hotel to the current casino facility. As a result, the construction started this week and will continue through to an expected completion date in December 2017. Konocti Vista Casino Resort, including all facilities, will remain open through the entire project. The parking lot paving project will be completed by the beginning of June, thus eliminating the current parking issues.

The planned expansion includes:
1. 20, 000 sq. ft. casino gaming floor
2. New, larger Point Bar
3. New restaurant
4. New hotel registration counter
5. Concierge Desk
6. Elevator access to second floor of hotel
7. Additional ADA hotel rooms
8. Converting the gravel lot to paved parking with a security fence, (including pull-thru parking spaces)
9. Large event center for concerts and large bass tournament registration
10. Expanded convenience store
11. Upgrades to the electrical outlets in the marina slips.

@lfg

There are multiple moderators that review the forum posts. Each one has different capabilities and makes a decision when they see something inappropriate. The reason that the post was removed was explained. This is not the place for derrogatory comments about people or groups of people.

The post that was removed was not an opinion about a person. It was a racially derrogatory comment and the moderator moved the thread because of that. That is the "honest" reason and that will not be tolerated here.

The discussion of the original post was started the day before and continued, it was not removed then because it was a civil discussion, but it became derrogatory and inappropriate and unacceptable.

A moderator made a decision to move the whole thread, because they knew how to do that and getting that type of language off of our forums was the most important thing - even if the discussion would have to start over, as it did here.

In your post, you've called us at WesternBass a liar "they should be honest" but that wasn't removed.

You made that accusation and didn't have all the information. I hope that now that you do, you reconsider your thoughts.

I am attempting to split the thread from the hateful post and merge it here, but this will take a few minutes.

Additionally, I would like to remind everyone that there is always two sides of the story and just because you are not privy to both sides doesn't mean that someone (or WB) is "lying".

Also there are two sides to the story for Konocti and I've asked them if they would like to share some info with you on this here.

With all of this said and the topics being merged, we will call this one done and get on to fishing.
