OROVILLE, Calif. - As the Department of Water Resources continues to drop water levels in Oroville to avoid another overfill, the repercussions of having too little water in the lake are starting to show.
Tuesday, dozens of houseboats that no longer have room in Lime Saddle and Bidwell Canyon marinas were being taken out, with no set date of when they can return.
Some of the boats have been docked at these marinas for decades, but now they're being forced out for the first time.
"Unfortunately this year, we were looking at having a full lake and we should only be 40 or maybe 50 feet down at this point," said Jason Maxon, assistant manager of Lake Oroville Marina.
Instead, by November 1 the lake level will be 200 feet lower, which means there's not enough room for the 300 boats that are docked at Lime Saddle Marina.
