Team Dassonville's 11.59 pounder secures delta win (picture)

Post by AnglersPress »

The fifth event of the Coors Light Future Pro Tour’s season is now in the books as nearly 100 teams came ready to "take care of business" on the California delta at Ladd’s Marina, and gather as many points as possible to help them qualify for one of only 100 berths that will be available in the prestigious $50,000-plus invitational championship known as the Coors Light Future Pro Tour Classic.

The event dubbed “Rollin on the River”, saw all teams come out “swinging” in what turned out to be a pretty tough bite, but it was the team of Lloyd and Shane Dassonville that ruled the day, as they brought an impressive five-fish limit weighing 23.31 pounds to the scales, that included the biggest fish caught on the tour this year – a 11.59 pound monster that held up as big fish of the event.

LLoyd Dassonville holds up the big fish of the event - an 11.59 pounder!

River2Sea’s Whopper Plopper was credited with enticing their big fish to bite, but the two were decidedly mute regarding how they caught the rest of their fish, as they are hoping to parlay their successful pattern at upcoming delta events.

For their victory they earned $2,925 dollars and two beautiful plaques.

“Photo finish” likely to decide “Silver Bullet” Angler of the Year Race

Lake Oroville will be ground zero for the two teams currently in a “neck-and-neck” race for the coveted FPT Coors Light “Silver Bullet” Angler of Year title, and given the level of talent both teams possess, it looks to be a race much too close to call.

Tyson Rapplye and Mike Caddick, virtual newcomers to the tour, sit only a single point behind veteran angler Tom Peirson and teammate Conner Urling - his 13-year old grandson who has been his team partner since the age of 6.

“I have a ton of confidence on Lake Oroville, and clear, deep-water fall fishing is what I live for”, Tom remarked in confident tones. All I have to say is that Mike and Tyson better bring their “A” games to this final event as Conner and I will be prepared”.

Tom sits in the enviable position of being able to accomplish an angling “triple crown” of sorts in that he won this year’s Bass Pro Shop Open event with his son Shane, took a first place FPT delta victory with his grandson Conner, and now stands just one event away from capturing with his grandson, the coveted FPT Coors Light “Silver Bullet” Angler of the Year title.

Get ready…Oct 21st marks the date for this season-ending showdown, and all eyes now turn to Oroville Lake to see who will qualify for the Classic Championship, and what the outcome of this exciting AOY race will be, as we close out what has been a fantastic 2017 FPT season!

See you there!
