New to forum

Post by Satchimo33 »

Hey all I'm new to posting on here. What are everyone's thoughts to why they don't hold FLW events in the pacific northwest anymore or at least some other western bass open.

I live here and wish they would, but I would say there are a few reasons why there are not bigger tournaments here.

The B.A.S.S. Open topic has been debated often in the west. Basically every year when the new schedules are announced. The last year they (B.A.S.S.) were here the numbers were comparable to some regions but nowhere near the southern states.

I think they consider the distance from their HQs, the cost of getting staff and equipment here and don't think we have enough anglers to support a trail like the Opens. I wish they would give us another shot to prove them wrong.

The other thing I have noticed after living in other regions is that the team format seems to be the preferred tournament format here instead of pro/am style events. That may just be my perception though.

I'd like to hear some other anglers thoughts. It's a good question.

I think ttb is right about the team tournaments being more well attended out here. When you look at the numbers of pro ams compared to teams it just seems that is what is more popular. That being said, I think there is a lot of us that would like the chance for the Opens out here but is there enough of us to support the cost of B.A.S.S. to do it. I don't know about that. I have to believe that if they thought it was a money maker they would already be here.

Hey NTF, I think Tyler has hit a lot of the answers in his response however this subject is a whole lot more complicated. I have seen the rise and fall of B.A.S.S. in the west as well as the fall of the Red Man aka: BFL and what they all have have in common is participation. I believe the main problem is the size of our region and It seems the west can only muster up so many Professional Anglers that can or are willing to travel the distance from AZ to WA which in the shortest of distances is about 20 hours. FLW and BASS are in the business to make money and we are a loosing proposition, with the inability to fill a full field for the entire season whereas in the central, southern and northern regions have full fields and waiting lists.

That makes sense. Just sucks for us. Not claiming to have what it takes but I’d like the opportunity thanks for the input. Kinda what I was thinking too.

I'd love to see an event back in Tri-Cities again. WWBT is seeing a lot of support from WA so maybe someone will notice. I loved catching those big smallies on the Columbia. I had some great days there but it's hard as heck to string 3 good days together and I never did

I'd like another shot at them.

I love that pool of water!
I agree it would be alot of coin for b.a.s.s. to get back up here in wa state.
Gary any chance the wild west trail might make a stop up north some year?

I'm not the decision maker any longer but I did recommend it already. I think it would be a great move for WWBT.
