In the Delta? All the time.
Re: Crazy cargo ship.
You will see them quite a bit in the main channels. Be careful when you cross their wake because they push a really heavy wake. The first time that I ran the Delta, about 15 years ago, I crossed one of their wakes as I was looking around at fishing spots. I got the bow up so high that I was almost vertical. The front end hit so hard that I blew a fuse on the bow electronics. I've been a little more careful since.

It's not the V shape wakes you have to worry about with the big boats or Cargo Ships. It's the perpendicular wakes that occur after it has gone by. With polarized glasses on these are really hard to see and you could be doing 30+ MPH when you hit these and you will suddenly find yourself in the air.

When these cargo ships pass by the sloughs and displace all that water it throws the bite for a good two hours . Always seems to happen when I’m on the fish
