need help mercury optimax

Post by Bret118 »

Has anyone had problems with there mercury optimax having no low end power? Runs rough at idle and dies some times when putting it in gear. Won't get up on plane unless someone stands on the bow. Once it gets up I can run 5800 rpm with a 26 tempest. Went down to a 25 fury and still has no low end power.

i have a 05 opti 225and my idle is not to bad no cutting off either. however when my boat is loaded up 2 ppl live well full full tank of gas it bogs down. i to would have to have someone on the deck to get on pad. I went through multiple props and troubleshooting. finally found out that I had a crack in the block smh. the good thing is that this problem was happening for 2+ years and still running. the shop epoxyed the crack and engine runs smoother its quieter and gets out of the hole better. it took 4 trips to the shop and 2 different shops to fugue this out hope ypu solve hope this helps

Some of the Mercs are sensitive to the exhaust, try messing with your PVS vent plugs, some engines need to have larger vents to allow the exhaust gas to provide slip to get things up and rolling. The next thing it could be is a coil, that will give you the same symptoms.

Possible tracker valve? Did you ever figure it out?
