Catfish caught in Lake Havasu could be Arizona state record
George T.: (Saturday night, April 28): We were targeting flathead catfish in Havasu. I was with my friend who holds a few records here, his name is Kenan. We started by catching baby bluegills as bait, then moved up to the deep waters and fished ’til it got dark with no luck.
Once the moon came out, the bite started. This was the first catch I got, then after that it was back to back action. We didn’t think channel cats is what we were going to catch, but that’s all that seemed to be biting. I never saw a flathead … we only got one flathead and about six channel cats, all in the 10-pound range. Mine was the biggest (pictured and in video) at 19.13 pounds lbs and 35-36 inches:
