Duramax Mileage
Anybody have a new duramax, can you tell me what the real mileage numbers you're getting are?.
Empty or towing your boat.
Any modifications?
I know the dealers and manufacturers of all brands lie about mileage. I have a civic hybrid I commute to work with, I paid about 12K extra because the sticker claimed 51 city / 59 miles highway.
This is BS, I only get about 34 "IF" I use premium grade fuel.

Re: Duramax Mileage
I've got a 2005, and I get about 13 mpg towing my Ranger 520. Without anything in tow, I get about 18-20 mpg. I'm told that as I get it broke in more, the mpg will increase too. Mine is stock, and I'm not going to make any modifications until 100,000 when the warranty is up.

Have you told your selling dealer about this
problem your having with your hybrid????
There is a software update and a product
update depending on you VIN. I would
call and find out. 34mpg is unusually low.

Randy, although I am the Chevy dealer (Courtesy Chevy, Morgan Hill) I have several family members driving Duramax diesels. Unloaded, they are all in the 18-20 mpg range and 13-15 pulling. If you want a great deal and all the possible discounts available, give me a call.

Re: Duramax Mileage
I have a 2006 Duramax with the LBZ motor and i get around 15 city. my 37" tires hurt my mileage but the bully dog programmer has helped it
Re: Duramax Mileage
What setting are you running right now? Any other mods beside the programmer?
Re: Duramax Mileage
I am running the second setting economy/performance gain of 45hp. I just put on the Rolling Big Power exhaust. What a difference in response. At idle and cruising it is pretty much the same sound and when you get on it it sounds good. I will have more info on mileage when i get home from a 3000 mile road trip

Re: Duramax Mileage
I've got a 2007.5 (Newer Body Style) Duramax LMM Crew Cab 4x4. BONE STOCK. The new LMM diesels have catalytic converters with DPF(Diesel Particulate Filters) which makes some of your mileage issues fluctuate.
The DPF sometimes needs to burn off the build up and in order to do this the system burns more fuel making your fuel economy go to crap for a little while.
Honest numbers, towing a 20.5 foot double axle Ranger around 13-15 mpg. Towed it from Phoenix to Sacramento and on the weekends lately.
Non-towing anywhere from 15 to 17 mpg.
Keep in mind I tow at around 65 to 70 mph.
Non-towing I drive quite a bit of city streets and when I am on the freeway typically around 70-75 mph.
Supposedly the fuel economy goes up after the first 10 - 15 thousand miles.
If you are really serious about looking at diesels take a look at this website, these guys are really into it.

Re: Duramax Mileage
Randy premium fuel burns slower thus lower mileage unless it is designed for it. Be honest and check accurately, I will bet you will get two to four percent better with 87. 87 will also burn much cleaner. You can take that to the bank.

Re: Duramax Mileage
Why is it almost all duramax trucks are 4X4?
Re: Duramax Mileage
I have a 2011 duramax an unloaded I get around 16 in the city and 21 on the last road trip. Can't say yet about towing. Haven't been on a long enough trip with the boat yet
