Going to make a trip up north and can't decide on Shasta or Trinity. I know it depends on whether I want to focus on spots or smallies, but I'm down for both!
What lake would you pick right now & why?
Thanks!

Shasta or Trinity??

Re: Shasta or Trinity??
I just got off Trinity a little over a week ago.
3 Things.
1. Trinity Alps Launch ramp is closed due to construction.
2. There was a fire burning that at the time was not being
challanged. The smoke was terrible
3. The bite vapor locked mid week although I am sure it
had something to do with a high of 102 on Monday followed
by a Friday high of 76 degrees.
Bring a 4X4, a respirator and a positive outlook and make a left
at Shasta

Re: Shasta or Trinity??
Personaly I would rather fish Trinity any time over Shasta. John Grey the maine guide and trinity guru has been reporting that the trinity bite has been tough. With weather comming in, all that could change over night. I also just got a good shasta report from a reliable shasta local. I have always herd that a bad day at trinity is better than a good day at shasta. But for me a bad day at trinity might mean 8 hrs with out a single bite. Hope this helps and be sure to post your results. I will be making this same decision in a few weeks.
Take a kid fishing
Re: Shasta or Trinity??
Trinity all the way. The fires are going out and the quality of fish are much better than Shasta. Fish Gitz-its and hold on
