Castaic stripers

Post by grumpy69 »

Can anybody tell me where the more productive spots are at Castaic for catching stripers this time of the year? Is there an easy way for kids to catch 'em? I'd like to take my boys out and try and catch a few.

I saw people catching them at the bouy line up at the Elderberry end of the Ski Arm. They looked to be casting bait over the bouy line.
One guy who was tied up to the bouy line, a local with a small aluminum skiff, had three nice fish, one might have gone over 10lbs.
There's a guy who guides there who gets them trolling chartruese Storm 4" swimbaits on a spreader rig. He trolls over 25' of water and covers the shoreline. He said he's been having more luck in the Fish Arm lately. I'm sorry, I don't remember his last name, but I think his first name is Ben. He catches them real good. Maybe if you google Castaic striper guides, he'll come up.
