Good Fishing Predicted for February 19th WON BASS Castaic Te

Post by Ron C »

CASTAIC – Anyone who has been to Castaic Lake within the past month has had the opportunity to see a brand new lake. The storms of 2005 have created entirely new shoreline banks and structure to fish and have turned the water to a color resembling Hot Chocolate. And while the fishing was a bit slow immediately following the storms, it has steadily been improving of late. In fact, in the last four tournaments at Castaic Lake, it has taken more than 15 pounds to win, or a three pound per fish average. With conditions improving, it is anticipated that the February 19th WON BASS Southern California Region Castaic Lake team tournament could be a real slugfest, with many predicting that it will take over 20 pounds to win.

Early reports from anglers pre-fishing for the February 19th Castaic Lake contest have indicated that there is a very good jig and dropshot bite going on. Other anglers are having success with reactions baits such as spinnerbaits and crankbaits, as well. With a variety of baits and techniques like this, the tournament should be a lot of fun.

On-site registration for the February 19th WON BASS Southern California Region Castaic Lake team tournament will begin on Friday evening, February 18th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the West Ramp parking lot and will continue on Saturday morning from 3:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. Anglers are reminded that they must check in prior to the 5 a.m. deadline or they will go out last and be due in with the first flight.
