reel problem

Have a citica 201E and its pretty rough and tight even when its in a loose configuration. What do I do. Don't say something like get a better reel. But I would like some advise of what could be wrong.

You could have a bad spool shaft or anti reverse bearing. Without seeing the reel in person it will be difficult to diagnose.
