Tons of boats yesterday at Paradise Point as well--parking lot was nearly full. I really struggled fishing that area. Most of the grass (edolea?) is covered in a slime (algae?) that really makes it tough to fish. Virtually any bait worked on the bottom comes back full of slime. Punching was really t...

I never thought I would see the day when fishermen would forsake one another. Hiding information on open launch ramps is downright embarrassing.
Having said that, I would hope safe guidelines are followed--don't give the government an excuse to stop all fishing.

What really irritates me is going fishing all by oneself, not getting within 600 feet of anyone else (let alone six feet) and still getting lumped in with the idiots partying on the beach. Go after the idiots, and leave us alone--we aren't harming a thing!

Don’t forget to put the self inspection form on your dash visible, they will ticket you for that also. They have them at the pay station and by the parking lot. Re: Melones
Won't you be going through Manteca, Oakdale, and Jamestown? If so then Tuttletown is the ramp you want. Only use Gloryhole if you go through Angels Camp. Both ramps are about 130 miles away, whether I go through Jamestown or Angels Camp. Is one highway better than the other? Are both ramps relative...

No "miracle" spray-on wipe-off product is going to cut through that oxidation--been there, tried that, failed. You will need a high-speed buffer, wool pad, and a cutter like 3M's Marine Fiberglass Restorer & Wax. My '87 Ranger looks like new.

I'm using pretty much the same setup as you--Powell Frog Rod with a Phat Frog (hooks bent slightly outward). No problem walking it, it's just on the cast where it comes back and hooks the line. 20lb leader solves that problem, but not crazy about 20lb leader tied to 65lb braid. As a side note: I ema...

How are you guys rigging your frogs? I find that with braid the frog keeps flipping around and the hooks keep hanging up on the line. My solution has been tying on 20lb leader. But it doesn't make much sense to throw 65lb braid with only 20lb leader.

Anyone know of a good Yamaha mechanic in the East Bay? My old ProV 150 stopped pumping water. I had replaced the impeller and it worked fine for several trips, but suddenly it's not circulating through the motor. Tore it apart again and there were no obvious problems. Now it's above my pay grade.
