Re: Delta water rights question

There are times of the year that I like to fish in and around docks. I've had a few run ins but not many. My understanding is the same as others have already stated - the water itself is open to all. The one thing that frustrates me is all the ropes that owners tie between docs. I've seen some good...

Re: Cooch's services Today 11/18

Delta Bass Club had their monthly tournament today, so only a couple of us were able to attend. I'm sure there were many others who were in the same boat, in one way or another. No one appreciated all that Cooch did for bass fishing more than Delta Bass Club. And they did say goodbye to Cooch at the...

Cooch told me, as long as it's navigable, and not restricted by the Coast Guard or some other governmental arm, you can fish it.

Re: Good article on toxic algae in US waterways

It looks like the toxic algae isn't just a California problem. Although the article makes a mention of climate change/global warming, it focuses on the massive runoff from agriculture/livestock across the whole country and how little is being done to stop it. According to this article, ag is somewh...

i also noticed a large die off of the Poplar trees along the East side of lil mandy - these trees are natures riparian holders. with the trees dieing off, i imagine the roots are no longer strongly holding the rip rap together. Look for some Gortex cross trainers. They will keep your feet dry, and as long as your feet are dry, and you wear wool socks, you'll be fine. Just make sure your rain suit covers the tops of the trainers.

Is there a large population of stripers in there? Last time I tried to fish it the weeds were really thick, so I could only really fish it on high tide.

Re: Baitcasting rod

If I had to pick one rod, it would be a 7'3" med. heavy with a fast tip. The key is having a soft enough tip to load with whatever bait you're throwing, and still be strong enough to set the hook and control big fish. An extra fast tip makes casting lighter baits more difficult.

Trust your nose. Wash your cork, and smell it. Try Simple Green, or even liquid dishwashing detergent.
Same thing with baits. If it smells like smoke to you, it probably will to the fish.
Of course, you may have discovered a new, secret scent!

Re: Accessing Little Franks?

Can you run all out across Little Franks? Yes. Should you? That depends on tides, weeds, debris, and common sense. If you don't know an area, take it easy and be careful, until you learn it well enough to know what's there. Last November I was fishing Little Franks when a duck hunter's flat bottomed...
