Re: Jerkbait Rod----Survey

Aside from a soft tip and moderate action, I find that having some kind of a fore grip, or, at least, a softer front reel locking nut transition, is critical for how I hold the rod when I'm jerkbaiting. Throwing a working jerkbaits, along with walking baits, are the most active retrieves, so comfort...

Just my opinion a bigger engine is better. I would strongly suggest a F250 with the tow haul option. I have a 2012 f250 and it has been a dream and I am not going through brake pads like I did with my F150. I tow a heavy sled Ranger Z21 and have been extremely happy with the F250. Re: Re release by request from Bobby Barrack | For those of you emailing WTH is going on at the Delta

Salmon numbers began to decline when the Aqueduct was completed, and water was diverted south. The more water that is diverted, the lower the numbers of salmon making it to the ocean, and then returning. There is a direct correlation, and it's got to be easy to track for people with access to both w...

Baits with treble hooks and large bodies give the fish something to use for leverage when they head shake and try to throw the hook. Using mono and a lighter action rod lets me keep pressure on the fish by keeping a bend in my rod at all times, so there's never enough slack to let them swing the bai...

I fish the CA Delta. I use 17 lb. BPS Excel mono on all my cranks, jerkbaits, and topwaters. It is plenty strong enough to turn fish, and to pull them from cover or grass if needed. Because it floats, it doesn't get as bogged down in grass as fluoro. It handles really well, with no wind knots and fe...

Fishing out west does take a more refined set of skills in my opinion. . . I agree that if they had a western division the eastern guys would struggle just as much here if not more so than western guys do back east. This just makes it harder for western fishermen to fish a complete season of opens....

Re: Unprecedented Clear Lake Fish Die-Off: Dead fish islands about the size of three football fields.

There are a lot of variables out there, some of which are obvious and some of which a stretch to implicate in the fish die-off. But the one thing we can control is herbicide spraying and pelleting. If all the other factors are killing off the grass, the spraying and pelleting isn't needed. So it wil...
