I had the same problem on an 2002 225 opti. turns out the float in the oil bag on the motor can become "waterlogged", or unable to float. this tells the sending unit the reservoir is empty, although it is full. I replaced the reservoir, problem solved.

your starting battery is charged by your big motor, apparently doing a good job if the green light for that battery comes on immediately, however, a one hour time frame to bring the TM batteries up to full charge sounds very short, but, the green lights do mean full charge. most likely it's your variable speed control switch. That's the one used with your foot to control the amount of power your sending to the motor. easy to install and don't cost much. Gene will have one.

Fawndale.....done. 1 mile to Bridge Bay, park your boat in front of your room, BBQ in front of your room if ya wish, just a very cool place and no thieves around. Exit Fawndale road off 1-5. I've stayed there many times over the last 15 years. always great.

although I'm quite fussy about taking good care of my boat, there are a few spots on the gel coat on the gunnell that have gone flat. the rest of the boat is fine. I keep it wiped down and covered. can gel coat be rubbed out or buffed? If so, what is the best process? thanks for the help. Tom Mulliken
