Re: Gen 2HDS 7 lowrance/hummingbird 898si/900 series

Rich, I have owned Lowrance on all my boats and I switched over last year to HB. I installed two 898c SI units on my boat and I'm glad I did. A couple of reasons I switched was, I like that the SI is internal without having to install the extra module, the ease of operation with the HB is great, the...

Re: Phenix Rods, if you fish them i would like your input

I own both the Ultra MBX series and also the Recon series. I really like the MBX series, but the Recons are an awesome rod. Phenix hit a grandslam when they came out with the Recon series. They are light, very well balanced with excellent sensitivity. Between the Ultra MBX and the Recon series, they...

Hey Rod, I own both the Ultra MBX and the Recon rods. My personal preference is the Recon rods. When I throw the Wadda jig, I prefer the PHX-C714MH. I use this rod on the Delta and the lakes. I also throw football heads up to 3/4oz on it. For small hollow body swimbaits, this rod does really well. I...

I've only owned Mercury's. All engines have their problems. As Mike's post above, it comes down to customer service and whether they stand behind their product. On my next boat, I'll probably put a Mercury on it, but that's not 100%. I'll look at all motors and see what fits the best

The brown and black wadda jigs have 40 strands.

The brn/pur, brn/avc, blk/blu & blk/red have 46 strands.

The brn/orn has 43 strands

The rubber is the regular round living rubber

The weedguard is a 40strand weedguard for flexibility

I hope this helps

When I fish McClure, Pedro or Melones, it's about $85 a trip

When I fish the Delta, it's about $110 a trip

I run more on the Delta than I do on the lakes. I have started to run at around 4500 to 4800rpms which saves on gas.

It's about total time in a day...... 2 to 5 minutes at a time adds up to more time to have your bait in the water. Those extra minutes gained in a tournament can be huge. Every minute your baits in the water during a tournament, the more chances you have of catching fish. I know that you can't catch...

At times, speed does matter. During certain times of the year, you may have quite a few areas that you will be fishing during day. The faster you get to each one, the more time you'll have to fish that area. The Delta is one body of water where speed plays a part. If the tournament you're fishing is...
