Re: DUI checkpoints and Tournaments

I thought the drinking starts after the tournament! Have there been any cases of fishermen getting caught drunk at the helm during a competition? I wouldn't think they'd want to risk getting both DQd' and a DUI. While out fun fishing might be a different story, but I haven't heard of that either. I ...

I like McCoy's Rod Shields. They're like stick jackets, but don't have that floppy tab at the top. They're closed off by a rubber nipple. The link I'm providing is to the casting rod version, but they have them for spinning rods too. Check them out: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/McCoy_Rod_Shields_C...

Pretty much what Charles said. A friend recommended I try it many years ago and I've been using it since. Used to be a hardcore Trilene fan. Mean green is very manageable line and I especially liked it on a spinning set up because of the low memory. The jury is still out for me on McCoy fluorocarbon...

Thanks guys. Yeah, I can't imagine it was another fisherman doing this and not coming forward. Probably a skier/pleasure boater, but who knows? Some a-hole damaged my trailer

They clipped the left rear corner of the trailer while I was out on lake Castaic today. Most likely with theirs. Left no note, nor did they contact lake staff. The metal surrounding the reverse light is dented in pretty deep, and they scraped up to the rear of the fender. Tire has scrape marks on it...

Re: Best price out there on Goodyear Marathon tires

Marathons have been good to me. Never a problem except for they were 6 1/2 years old and cracking from age. Tread was still very good. About a month or so ago, I bought a new set of 4 from a local garage/GoodYear dealer. $89 per tire. With all the fees, tax and balancing came out to around $460.

Thanks for the tip, but it comes about 3 weeks late for me. I just got a new set of Goodyear Marathons on my trailer (dual axle) from a local tire shop/garage. $89 each for the tire. Fees, tax and labor took it up to $457! My truck will be next in a month or two. Maybe I'll check out the shop you re...

Spool up your spinning reels with braid and then use a few feet of fluoro (or mono) as a leader. Tie the two lines together with a surgeons knot. You won't be getting twist with braid.

Could your line been damaged from getting backlashes? Fluoro can easily get damaged from them...especially when working them out. Careful not to have the loops pinch hard or scrape around the main line.
