Re: Deep cranking with a Dobyns Swimbait rod?
Funny how someone who doesn't know left from right wants the most accurate rod out there. I'm picking up a couple of the Roumbanis rods myself. I just like to do the research and make sure I’m buying the best rod I can afford. I already got a ton of rods and i fish once a month. I’m not a tourney a...

Re: Deep cranking with a Dobyns Swimbait rod?
Thanks for all the help guys. I called dobyns direct and there doesn’t seem to be a good 6xd rod for a budget angler. The swimbait rods they said are too stiff. Champion or bust I guess. Likely going to go with another brand regretfully. Hopefully they make somethin in the fury line down the road.

Well yes, exactly the point of my post.185vsfrog wrote:Fred rods are on sale at Dobyns now for $169 and free shipping. Super good deal.
If it will work for my application, I would buy one.
I'm afraid the 803sb will be too stiff for 6xd.

Deep cranking with a Dobyns Swimbait rod?
Hi guys, I'm looking for a deep cranking rod to throw mostly things like a DD22 and 6XD. I don't want to spend a ton, so definitely on a budget. I was looking at the Dobyns Fred "Boom Boom" Roumbanis 803SB. It's rated as Moderate Fast for lures 3/8-2oz but made as a swimbait rod... I'm won...

Re: CA RIVER DELTA... WHERE SHOULD I GO?!
I'm not an expert, but I guess I can give you my .02 cents. The delta can be tough! Don't forget you're dealing with tides!! Typical lures would be a punching rig, frog, etc. This is probably likely more in the summer. Fall I'm sure could start deviating a little bit. I wish I could give you more in...

Depending on how long you plan on having the boat, I've seen several guys get pretty ingenious to fabricating a mount for the trolling motor on the front of the boat, which may give you a lot better boat control... something else to keep in mind when you're pondering any fixes or next steps...

There are too many spotted bass and not enough food. The lake really doesn't have a ton of vegetation... that still leaves craws and open water bait fish, but I guess not enough to fatten up all the fish swimmin around. Jolon by Nacimiento?
Naci will be great for spots, San Antonio good for the Smallmouth, and MARGI good for some big largemouth.
If north means Delta, then that is nice, but you got some nice lakes closer to ya.
