Re: cranking reel
For me, it really depends on where I fish. If I am fishing the Delta and with the current (boat going against the current so I am cranking down with the current), I like a 6.3:1 ratio. I need it to keep up. However, if I am fishing a lake, which is rare, I'll go with my 4.9:1.

If you haven't already, email Dobyns and they will send you a new guide. If you are in Sac, take it to Sac Pro Tackle on Northgate blvd. The guy there is pretty good. Not going to say names, but there is a big and well known fishing shop here in Sac that does a poor job.

I just called and they do not recommend boats with propellers, only paddle boats for safety. It is a shame. It always have been good fishing every time I go there. My cousin lands his personal best every time we go. As soon as I thought I had that little lake figured out. Hopefully it will rebound.

Anyone been there lately? I was there around this time last year and the water was extremely low. I'm looking to get back but want to see if there is enough water to make the trip out there.
