Noticed the same thing happening last year and thought it was something I did as far as storing them. Bought some more worms from Tackle Warehouse, and when they stated to fade, Tackle Warehouse replaced them. Lately, I've just been throwing 'em away.

Found some similar barrels tied to the tules last September. I decided to open 'em up as they had lids with numerous 1/4" holes in 'em. I found about 25 bluegill inside that were just the right size for striper bait. Buttoned 'em up and left them were I found 'em...............
