Accidentally installed 4.1 software on HDS5 Gen2
I downloaded the HDS software update 1.1 on a SD card. The card already had 4.1 on it from when I gad a Gen 1. When I put the chip into the HDS5 Gen2, it installed 4.1 NOT 1.1. I deleted the 4.1 update from the SD card and tried to install again. No luck, it just ignores the update. How can I uninst...

Re: Best Route Towing Boat to Clear Lake?
A good alternative to Silverado Trail is Pope Valley road. No steep grades and almost exactly the same distance. Exit Silverado at the Lake Hennesy exit, follow the road through Pope Valley, then back on to 29 just after Middletown. I tow a boat with my RV and it is much easier on my brakes and tran...

This is mostly philosophy, but it is important. The last cast of the day should be made with the same intensity as the first cast!! Know your limitations. Pace yourself. Re: Tracking device attached to a bass in Delta ?
The bass had two large 1/4 inch sores where the wire entered and exited. The wire loop was too large and the wires were cutting into the bass. My thinking was that if it was not removed then the bass would soon die. I removed the device so that I could save a fish. It was about 5 pounds and otherwis...

Tracking device attached to a bass in Delta ?
Last Friday, I caught a Large Mouth bass in the Delta that had a device attached to the back of the fish with a wire loop. The device was black, about 1" by 1/2" by 1/2" and had what looks like a LED at one end. Curved on the top, with numbers on the sides. The wire loop went from the...

Yes, the rock pile ia near the dam, on the ramp side of the lake, about 10 yards past the 5 mph buoy and 15 yards from the shoreline. With the water somewhat muddy it is very hard to see. Rocks are only about 6 inches under the water. I hit them at about 3 mph enough to do real damage. No hazard buo...

Re: Lowrance HDS 5 X
The HDS-5X can be a problem. Most of the solution is to attach the HDS-n to the HDS-5 using an Ethernet cable. This is required for software update and for some of the data sharing options. If you don't plan to upgrade to Structure Scan, it's probably just as cheap to upgrade to the HDS-5. Simpler p...
