So reasonable limits on those fish seem much more beneficial than trying to limit technology. Why should they let anglers catch buckets or trash cans full of fish if they’re worried about the resource?
I happened to watch that episode last night… what a horrible collision, and what a horrible outcome for Brady. He seems to be dealing with it far better than many would. I don’t fully understand how it could have happened… certainly seems like they were traveling faster than the conditions allowed f...
…and say what you will, I believe the comments about Mike weren’t all that far off. Pretty sure he still caught a ton of big fish back in the day, regardless whether scruples were applied.
Good read about the rest of the sticks… most of ‘em are still top class!
ALWAYS pull far enough up the ramp to square the vehicle and trailer before backing down. Put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel when backing - that way you can turn it in the same direction you wish to turn. NEVER try to save it… best to always pull forward a couple of times to square, i...
Definitely want to go at least 12”, IMHO. I am running two HDS Live 12’s at the bow, one more or less dedicated to AT2 and the second for SI/DI/360/etc. When I don’t need FFS, I can still use the graph for other purposes as it is connected via Ethernet. I had Anglers (THANKS JORDAN!) add another bat...
I have no words, even 3 days later. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jenny and the entire family, as well as his many friends....oh how you will be missed my friend. Dano Agreed... I feel like I've been in a fog since learning of his passing. I spoke with Jonathan yesterday, and was pleased to hea...
I am flabbergasted as I compose this post, as I just learned that Cooch passed away suddenly. He has been a good friend, mentor and fishing partner to me, as well as many here on the board, and the news is just devastating to me. I have a copy of the Facebook posting announcing the news, which I'll ...
Happy birthday Chuck, with many happy returns! I hope it is the best yet, and that you have another 60 to come! Damn you're getting old!!! Better than the alternatives, though, and in reality you're just getting better! Enjoy your day sir - wish I was up there to congratulate you in pe...
I used Global Fish Mounts several years ago. I sent them the photos and measurements... They sent back a mount which wasn't even close  Not only was the shape incorrect, they didn't get the coloration or even the eye color right. I complained, and sent it back, and they ended up matching the c...
They're still getting the 100# fish, and they're suffering many casualties due to under gunned gear. They are getting them to go on 50-80#! Apparently the hot ticket for the big fish is a Shimano Flat Fall jig fished on 60-80#, spooled on a heavy two-speed rig. There are still spots availabl...
Prowler and Pacific Queen have been getting schoolies almost every trip, and picking at the gorillas more often than not. Prowler had two hundred pounders just yesterday. While it's true that the big boats see the real jumbos most years in March, the BFT and allies are not usually in catch range for...
For those interested in the offshore scene, but haven't been paying attention since it is still early, they have been hanging bluefin already out of San Diego! This is the earliest they've shown up in quite a few years, and has now been ongoing for at least a few weeks. The 3/4 day boats (!) are get...
Lowrance, hands down! I got Humminbird gear when they were the only SI game in town, and I think many here know of my frustration and position on that solution.
Lowrance is proven, hearty, robust, well designed, and will serve your needs for years to come.
Couldn't ever forget you my friend! I spoke with Rob a week or so ago... Good catching up with him. I was watching some of Dave's YouTube videos just recently... Saw your smiling face too! :D We just moved back to So Cal a year ago, and BD (Brian Day) has succeeded in getting me off my butt and back...
^^^ Great advice right there. Start with a club - sounds like Paradise might be just the ticket. Club fishing lets you get your feet wet, meet some fellow anglers, learn the ropes, and have fun and fellowship. Once you're comfortable with that, you can either find a partner and start fishing one of ...
I use the 9 to 5 knot super easy it's just a Uni to Uni 9 turns on Braid and 5 turns on Mono-Fluoro Been using braid to flouro for many years, and I too love the uni to uni connection. I use it for everything from 8-10# braid to 6-8# flouro for the So Cal finesse bite, to 80# braid to 20-30# flouro...
I finally got the boat back. Apparently Frank purchased and installed a whole new seat assembly, including the new style center console. I'll post photos later tonight.
I have two solid buyers interested, and a third with a backup offer.
Finally got good news today - Frank called to let me know that they were able to resolve the issue, got the upholstery, and have finished re-covering the seats. He is going to get it cleaned up for me and I will be picking it up at the end of the week. I will take updated photos and post them this w...
Unbelievable - it has been about three months since I took my boat for service, and Frank ordered the replacement upholstery from Ranger at that time. It was finally delivered, and is not correct! Not sure that I care to wait another three months. If someone wants it with the material on order, or s...
I finally had a chance to check with Frank (Inland Marine) on the status of my boat, and he indicated that the new seat material is supposed to be delivered on 6/23... had no idea that it would take this long to get this work done. I could have done generic upholstery for far less cost and time, but...
