Re: Ultrex trolling motor connected to Lowrance + Bird
now I can't see what's below the bow on my DI,SI. Is there a way to utilize that ducer on the Ultrex for the Lowrance as well? As far as i know, the answer is no unless I disconnect and reconnect every time I stop. That sounds like a PIA! I thought I'd ask anyway. Can I put another Lowrance ducer o...

Re: Ultrex trolling motor connected to Lowrance + Bird
I don't understand why following a specific contour is so important while fishing. I suppose if you are looking at the wildlife and don't look where you are going it would help but when you are fishing, watch the depth and look for the structure where fish live and fish there. It may not be at a sp...

Re: Ultrex trolling motor connected to Lowrance + Bird
Mitch, I think you pretty much get what I'm trying to do. Kill 2 "birds" w/ 1 stone. I want to follow contours up front and use a LM chip at the console. I was trying to do that with 1 Bird but I think your right. I might have to buy another Bird. Cash is little tight right now so I was tr...

Ultrex trolling motor connected to Lowrance + Bird
I upgraded and bought a boat that has an Ultrex trolling motor. While I have yet to use it, everybody says I'm going to love it. The previous owner had a Bird(don't ask model #- it's a 959 something) at the bow connected to his I pilot. Apparently, there are more features that can be done with a Bir...

Re: Structure scan box question
Thank You. You gave me everything I needed to know plus a little extra. I didn't know about the source issue. Yes that would have been frustrating. You scared me for a second by saying it didn't exist because there 2 of them on my kitchen table! You indeed found what I bought. Thanks again

Re: Upgraded to HDS 8's Gen 2 Wiring questions
The reason I suggested running new wires is so you will have dedicated power and ground to the units. There would be no other devices using those wires and you would always have plenty of clean power and a dedicated solid ground for you units. Just a suggestion. NoCal,KS -Both your ideas seem reaso...

Re: Structure scan box question
My bad for not stating what I had. Ok Here it goes. I HAD 2- HDS 7's w/ buttons.1 @ the bow and 1 @ the console. I assume Gen 1? Cabelas is clearing out their HDS 8" Gen 2's touch screens at a pretty decent price so I bought 3 for the price of 2. 1 for the bow and 2 for the console. 1 at the co...

Re: Upgraded to HDS 8's Gen 2 Wiring questions
The master switch is at the battery. You would suggest wiring all the way back to there? Why not the fuse box? It's 3' away and much easier to get to. The original FF and everything else appears to go the fuse box. I was wondering if I double the post where the original goes into the box. I could do...

Re: Structure scan box question
If I understand you correctly, I can directly connect the the LSS transducer to the Gen 2 bypassing the the structure scan box? The transducer that came with the Gen is HDI. I would need both ducers to have SS/DS and sonar?

Structure scan box question
I upgraded to HDS 8 Gen 2's. While installing, I had some questions for the original owner. I called him and explained what I did. He had a Structure scan box and a separate transducer as well sonar.. He mentioned that the transducer that came with my unit does it it all and that I shouldn't need th...

Upgraded to HDS 8's Gen 2 Wiring questions
New to the site but I see you have a excellent Lowrance forum so here it goes. I'm a Eastern Montana who recently bought a boat to fish Fort Peck reservoir. Amazing fishery! The 1st season was a learning curve and I'm still learning but we caught lots of fish, including my new PB smallie 5-14 lb. an...
