I’ll answer my own question. Saw two salmon at the back of Sycamore from 0630 to 0800 today. So they don’t seem to be there at all. Same with Hog...nothing. Fished the Mokolumne from Wimpy’s to Tower Park the rest of the day. My son and I caught about 30 bass, nothing of size. They were smoking a sh...

Have a shallow and a deeper version on, and throw it between tule islands in sloughs on the Delta. Often you'll have the shallow ridge running between islands with sloping sides into the channel. Bass will move up and down that slope using the grass for ambush depending on the tide. Caught 2 sevens ...

I'll second everything Mark said after using the FG for a three years now. I would also add the importance of tightening down the knot before tying the half hitches. It kind of cinches down on itself and really decreases the odds of unraveling.

If I'm drop shotting on the Delta its with a medium heavy baitcast. 40lb braid to 15 lb flouro. Texposed 6 in fat roboworms. Works well. Can roll cast it or flip it. Much better control of the better fish. And frankly much better accuracy in close quarters.
