If I'm not mistaken, it's a Sacramento Pike or i.e. squaw (sp?) fish. The real pike, like those in Davis, have nasty teeth.

Guys, I've not left a hook inside of a fish in several years. Please do away with the pliers and buy one of these hemostats . The 6" or 6.5" ones are about the right length. The pliers are too thick and chunky to effectively work around a gut hooked fish. But these hemostats are narrow and...

TopWater, The thing that the jackplate will do for you is to allow you to fine-tune (adjust) the motor height. But ratcheting it up or down, you can get more RPMs out of your motor. It sounds to me like your motor is perhaps too low if you're not getting the RPM's that you should. If the motor is to...

There have been many threads on the topic of knots for fluorocarbon lines. Many, including myself, say do not use the palomar knot on fluoro.

But for drop-shot (and I don't drop shot much), what knots to use with fluoro??

is this the same as a San Diego Knot ? No ... but similar. With the San Diego knot, you have to put the tag end through the loop of the line at the hook. This knot, you don't do that, just put it through the loop on the other end. See here: 16/20/Pitzen/Speed knot: http://206.210.94.83/assets/recom...
