Send me a PM with your email and I will send you the schematic. The middle loop doesn't attach to anything. That is essentially what creates the spring pressure.

These reels were made in the days before braided line. This reel was made with 10-17# mono in mind.

This reel was discontinued in the late 80's. We no longer have any manuals for this model. This is way before we had scanners and pdf files. I suggest contacting Nutter Rod & Reel in White, GA. They specialize in the older model reels. He might have a manual that he can scan or photocopy for you...

You have the Calcutta 201D, Conquest 201 and if you can find a Chronarch 201E5. The gears from a right hand model reel will not work in a left hand model.

We had a local dealer there. I am sorry you had a bad experience. I will pass the info along. I was there both days and didn't witness anything like that, but I was busy with customers helping them pick out new rods and reels.

I understand your frustration and have been working on a way to eliminate the chance of noise on the SVS braking system. They do require a little more maintenance, but it is very simple to perform. It literally takes 30 seconds or less to perform.

The SVS brakes are slightly different than our older VBS reels. If you turn the brake on, make sure to swing it down before you close the side plate. More than likely the bearing is the culprit. They are really easy to change. You can send it directly to us for repair, to one of our service centers, or to Dan at Reel Ex.
