Re: Ned Rig questions
Really appreciate the response Grant. Yep, lots o craws, and the lake is quite rocky, especially with the water down significantly (why I fish jigs a lot). I'm a line watcher from way back, and have seen no pick ups on the fall, or after initially hitting bottom. I will try some scent, which i haven...

Ned Rig questions
Bite is pretty good for me at my local lake fishing senkos and rip baits in relatively shallow water (+/- 10 feet). Have been playing with a ned rig - this morning was my 12th day of using this bait (Z man 1/10 shroom head, TRD's and Ned Bombs, various colors). Whacked 'em good early on senko's, so ...

What's the low water ramp at Bidwell like right now? Is there a doc, etc... Any info you could share would be appreciated. Merry Christmas to you and your families.

Re: Lake Shasta Jig Trailers
Oh man, is this a good topic! Hopefully Cooch and Hemphill will jump in. The jig is a big fish bait AND a numbers bait, that you need to get dialed in, especially on the lakes with spots. For spot lakes like Shasta, 1/2 oz. football head is the gold standard - lots of brands to choose from that all ...

Kenny, Standard fair for smallies in the "upper delta" would be a red craw crank bait. I like a Bomber 6A - a medium diver that works well around the rock and grass yer gonna come across up there (fire tiger, and other black/chartreuse type colors work too). Senkos and spinnerbaits are goo...

Plain and simple - BIG FISH. All that timber can be tuff on yer boat though, so be EXTREMELY careful. There may be other famous / good lakes in East Texas, but if I'm in the neighborhood, Fork is the one and only stop. Honestly, I've fished Ray Roberts, Montecello & Welsch (power generation lake...

113 at Berryessa a few years back was the high mark for me. At a 100% event at Oroville one January 10+ years ago, we're waiting in line at Bidwell to weigh in (cold, sunny day), and you could see the black clouds on the horizon to the north. Within minutes we were hit with a massive cold front - pe...

If yer going throughout the country, add Lake Fork in East Texas to your list. One thing you'll likely have to contend with is the skier / houseboat crowd. Bullards is a popular place when the weather is warm. The main body sees a lot of activity, and can be really rough due to all the boat wakes. In general, plan on fishing early and late in the day. Fishing in the marina / r...

No worries re: the "bucket crowd" Crawdaddy - Bullards has pretty poor bank access (really steep banks and rocky). You'll work hard to get any of those bigger spots from the bank. They can have all the dinks they want, as the lake is full of 'em.

Re: How Would You Fish Berryessa This Weekend?!
Don't know Berryessa all that well, but I do have some experience there this time of year. I'd be thinking pre-spawn, or really close to it. I would start in the Narrows, hitting the points of coves on the east side, just outside of Markley Cove, working my way towards the main lake. Keep it simple ...
