A lot of them are up in the spawning areas still, some are still spawning. The bluegills are now spawning and many of the bigger fish are still up in the beds chasing the gills. I am seeing a lot more bluegills than last year so that is good. Maybe try to target those fish in some way that you like ...

If there is a bright side to it that fish probably had many spawns. With all the weeds still left in the Delta the fish have a lot of hiding places. I agree the sea lions are tough but there are some humans out there raping the Delta as well.

Not sure what your budget is but Boatmasters just did mine as part of a trailer servicing as well as replacing my break pads for a little over $300. Not a bad deal in my opinion.

Just remember that Wild West is a 7 fish limit. Look at the weights and you can see it was not wide open. Rising water with color can always temper the bite up there. Don't sweat it too much some very knowledgeable teams struggled.

I use a ton of Basstrix but I only get about 25-40% that are not stiff and have that amazing wiggle. I have tried boiling the stuff ones without success. Any help here? I end up tossing out half or mor of the baits I buy, at $3 each it adds up quick.

Don't forget that a lot of rice fields are used by duck hunters and duck season is just getting under way. I know some hunters have to pay money to the farmers for diesel fuel to pump ground water and flood the fields to hunt. So it may not just be the farmers that want the fields flooded.
