Limit on photo page?
I have suggested to sTony and Gator that we might limit the fishing photo page to 2 photos max - at one time. Or, have 12 photos instead of 8. No, I didn't get bumped, but others did. We all like a moment in the sun for ourselves, clients, friends, and family. This idea is not directed to anyone bec...

Re: What Rod action/lenght to use for Spoons?
The spoon bite was awesome at Berryessa last week - 40 to 55 feet. Clients and I only used DUH! spoons - black shad in the 3/4 oz size. Morning Dawn worked too. I experimented with the 1 3/4 oz size but the bass wouldn't take it. I used to use the "crippled herring" spoon in white, but aft...

Though I haven't seen the new Z520, I like the openness in the console area. As a guide, I think I would miss the area in the back for a second or third client to fish from - "their space". Also a child often wants to fish with dad and there is room for both. I wonder if the 2 huge locker ...

The number of weather fronts that hit the Pacific Northwest basically determine the kind of summer weather we have. This summer the tail end of many fronts up n...

I don't know what type of lake you are fishing, but, if you don't have an experienced night guy with you - two rules. Don't fish areas that you are NOT familiar with, and - be aware of the wind forcast if it is a big lake. That could cause BIG problems!! All the light info from previous posters is e...

Re: Do big fish hit top water ?
Big bass will hit topwater if conditions are good. Just remember to get a good hookset but don't put too much pressure on a big topwater bass. The more pressure, the more likely she is to jump - and that is often the end of a of possible topwater trophy!

Fishing should be ok. Usually a summer cold front will cause the size of the bass to suffer - lots of smaller ones while the bigger ones are reluctant to feed. See my last report. The larger bass at Clear Lake love the heat!!

Generally I use single tail Yamamoto grubs - 5 and 6 inch - during spring and low light conditions - dawn, dusk, cloudy, and night. Also in dingy water. Broad daylight, especially if the water is very clear, I will go to a double tail because the visual image is as important and the water displaceme...

In the moonlight and if water is clear, try black/chartreuse worms. Dip a 10" black Power worm in chartreuse dye! If fishing the dark of the moon go with bulky baits that move a lot of water - brush hogs, etc. Spinnerbaits and big crankbaits are excellent in the dark of the moon. You are going ...

Not much heat this spring and summer so not much algae bloom. Some parts of the lower lake and Rattlesnake area had some pretty good color but most areas have two to four foot visability. There is no real heat spell predicted for next week either. Amazing!

A jig rod needs backbone. How much depends on the season and where you are fishing. I suppose a day or night trip would matter too. I really prefer a 7 ft rod no matter what brand or action.
