From what I was told (rumor), the lake is hoping to open in March. That would be a huge relief to many of us. I never thought that I would say it but I really miss that lake. At least I knew where to go to catch a couple in the winter months.

Lake is full of man made fishing habitat IE fish cages. They are located throughout the lake and in some of the backwater ponds in the river. Some are shallow and some are out in 20-30 feet. The water at Havasu is very clear and it will be very easy to see them.

I just spent a couple of days out on Lake Shasta sonar logging. The lake is much lower than I have ever seen it and adjusting the contours on my Lowrance made it easier to see what was under the water. Make sure that you turn on FishNChip on the unit. This turns on the best contours and most detailed version of the Navionics chart. Let me know if you need help. Should be chart, view, FishNChip. You are recording the depths and data in your trails and sonar. This data is used to update the contours for the lake. That is an HDS 12 hooked up to an iPad and iPhone. If you have an order version gen2 you need the wireless box go free. The gen3 come with built in wifi.

I would suggest visiting http://www.navionics.com and comparing the mapping. The Lowrance do come with decent mapping but the Naivonics Charts have an advantage in that they take data from all uses.
