I had the same message and found it to be caused (like Ken said) by a power issue. Mine was a bad connection between the LGC 2000 and the extension cable. Check all you connections and connectors.

The solinoid to lock out the brakes on the Ranger Trailer has a blue wire that connects to a red wire that goes to the trailer plug. Check that connection between those two wires. It is similar to a "butt" connector and the wires could have pulled loose.

I had the same issue with an older engine. The mechanic applied a little lubricant on the shaft and tap on the starter housing with the handle of a screwdriver.
