Re: Lowrance question Marc

Marc, I have an X98 on the bow, and an X15 on the console. If I leave both units on, I have to freeze the X15 chart, or the bow unit goes haywire after 20-25' of depth, cross reading the console. What can I do? I checked the transducer like you suggested by putting the console on the bow, and vice v...

Chris, I'm a carpenter, so I had a small diamond hone in my bags for touching up cheisels on the job. I put it in the boat, and use it to sharpen hooks. It cuts fast and smooth, and it's big enough, 1 1/2"X3", to let me sharpen the entire hook length, so I don't change the angle too much, ...

Ron, You're right, it's good to see that there is an institutional awareness of the problem. Thanks for the great setup and photos. As for how fish take a swimbait, I hung a 4lb on a Huddlestone 12, with the jig hook, and it was all the way in the fish's mouth, hooked in the top of the mouth. That fish had come up from behind and inhaled the bait. Maybe it's the size of the bait. I catch lo...

Take some senkos of different sizes with you when you go. If you don't have an O ring tool, you can just pull the senko through the O ring, if you do it slowly and gently. Otherwise, you'll have a lot of half senkos for dropshotting.

I put a Flatfoot in my Tracker 175. Mine is an '04. The Flatfoot has a sloped rear end, so it cleared my storage locker. I bought and use O rings from a plumbing supply, but I saw a neat deal in a magazine or somewhere. This guy used aquarium tubing, and just cut it into smaller lengths. It's clear, so the color of the senko comes through, and it looked like it would be plenty strong. And a lot cheaper than O rings.

I would have a shallow jerkbait tied on, and throw it on the edges of flats near deeper water. I'd fish a smaller rattletrap across the flats. Also a med diving crank. The Mississippi has too much water most of the time.
Ask you uncle about a 1500 mile long pipeline. It seems to me, if they can do it for oil, they can do it for water. And water generates a lot more development and income for any state than oil, except maybe Alaska.
