Re: What is the best spinning rod under $100?
Bass Pro spinning rods have worked well for me over the years, but Shimano's Clarus rod with the lifetime warranty is what I have purchased in the last year or so and been very happy with their value and performance. The Clarus line fills a great niche actually better then the BPS. You get a great p...

Re: trolling, live bait - why is it banned?
Joe, I don't know why, but the live bait ban may have had to do with catch and release. Back then they felt using live bait meant gut hooked bass that you could not cull or release after weigh-in. I am not positive the first tourneys were c& r, but you could cull. At that time they also felt it ...

As others have said, the kids don't need a license 'til 16, but some of the lakes that plant trout require all anglers to purchase their daily fishing access pass for $3-$4/ person. To rant a bit, I would really like to see them change the age to 18 for kids or at least a more affordable license. I ...

I don't think a poacher cares much about the extra fine for the license infraction. The fine for exceeding a limit or size restrictions would be much higher. Heck, they could just wear the holder with a piece of paper the same color and say it was a necklace! Imagine if you had to wear your DL above...

If the reason for the law is to allow a ranger to view it from afar ( say more than a few feet) it is out of touch with the times. Most license holders show only a partial view of the license and even if they did show the whole license, how hard would it be to slap it on a little color copier and cu...

Hopefully, it is something as simple as the motor not being in neutral as Billy mentioned. You didn't mention the type of boat, motor, year, etc...if you have a blinker style trim switch on the steering column, the trim on the throttle won't work. Both of these are easy to miss on a new to you boat ...

There are a couple of ways to get him on some fish. If you have a boat: Try dropshotting for bluegill with wax worms or 1/2-1" pieces of nightcrawlers on a long shank hook, but make sure to make the hook barbless. Flatten the barb with pliers. When you are on the bluegills it is much easier to ...

If you do get one, do a search on lock bumping here or on the net to purchase the right pad lock.
The pad lock you secure it with would be your weakest link. Apparently, lock bumping takes anywhere from less than a minute to a few minutes to learn for many locks.

Re: Rattling Tube Weight ....... Did I Do It Wrong ?
I think g-man might have your problem pegged. If that tube is 3" a 5/0 is too big.
When rigging tubes I usually have the eye of the hook flush or a bit inside the head of the tube. From looking at your photo, I think the hook would be too long if the eye was flush to the top of the tube.

If that is a RI boom boom tube +/-5" a 5/0 hook sounds about right. I have not used the weighted tube rattle you are using, but have used the tube weights that are flat with a hole at the top. I insert the weight up to the top of the tube then insert the point of the hook right through the top ...
