Re: Evinrude Motors
Evinrude’s first direct injected two stroke Ficht models in the late nineties had problems with power heads blowing up. Especially the 200 and 225hp models. I have a 2000 175hp Ficht with 450 hours and it’s been a great engine for me, knock on wood. They seemed to correct that problem and the next m...

Two group 27’s sounds perfect for a 24v system. I used to run two group 31’s and they are extremely big and heavy. Turns out that didn’t make sense for me since I never fish longer than a half day.

If we band together and keep our old boats on the water it may keep those overpriced new boats on the showroom floor and then maybe the prices will adjust to more reasonable sticker prices.

My experience has been that if one of your deep cycle batteries fails you’re screwed. If one battery out of three is bad being hooked in series they will all perform at the level of the worst battery.

Boy, I am with you on that! I belonged to a club back in the late 70's/early 80's. It was fun and I learned a lot but it just was not my thing. Since then, I was just a weekender, until I retired, when I fished nothing but weekdays. The only pressure I felt was from trying to put my partner onto so...

Why I love the Delta so much
I’m not a tournament angler and I have no business being one. I simply love to fish the techniques I like best and the Delta is one of the few places a guy can force his will on the fish. I’m a reaction guy, mostly a red squarebill. Where else can a guy catch fish in two feet of water in the middle ...

Re: Overwhelmed
The main thing is keep fishing and don’t give up. Very few people show up at the Delta and whack them from day one. Everywhere looks good, which makes things more difficult. Think about which direction the tide is going and adjust your approach. For instance if you like to crank target the higher ti...

I’ve had really good luck with my 2000 175 Ficht. The Ficht’s you want to avoid are the late nineties 200 and 225. The E-Tech is a much better engine and I’ve never had a problem getting Boatmasters to work on my engine, the few times it’s been worked on. I suggest checking in your area to see if yo...

Hi...Check out holland tract marina. Plenty of parking. Prior to storing my boat at Whiskey Slough I split time launching between Holland Riverside and Lazy M. Because of random underwater snags I don't recommend running around Franks Tract willy nilly. When you want to cross it simply pick a straight line and get across to other side. The worst day is when the wind is blowing directly from the north. I once busted a windshield on my boat on a north wind d...

I don’t believe pure FLMB can survive in Grand Lake OK. Texas raised FLMB F1’s that are acclaimed to colder water would be a better choice imo. Reason is core body temperatures less then 45 degrees results in poor survival rates. Tom Are most Delta bass F1’s? I caught a 7-7 on the Delta about 25 ye...

Re: New boat
I agree that now is a great time to sell a boat. However, unless you're getting completely out of fishing buying a new boat to replace it is super expensive. The whole scene makes me want to keep and continue to maintain my 22 year old boat.
