Re: Coming to Castaic In July
The wounded warrior event at Vail Lake last weekend was cool. I hadn't been on that lake for close to 30 years. The two warriors that I took out were nice guys and good fisherman that fished hard all day. Don't be afraid to volunteer boat owners!

Re: Micro guides with heavy mono and fluorocarbon
I had my first micro guide rod made a few months ago. It is a HMX High Mod spinnerbait blank and I throw a lot of 20lb. Sniper with moving baits and it works great. It seems like I am getting a few extra feet on the cast. It is also much smoother. You lose a lot of the advantages of micro guides wit...

Re: Bed Fish
It depends on the fish. A male released immediately and carefully will often return within a few minutes. I often look to see if a fish returns when I am working a new bedding fish close to where I just released one. Females are usually just hanging around the area. I don't see them return as often ...

Yes. I caught a fish a little over 8 about 25 years ago that looked almost identical. I held it the same way in my picture. Many of my students think it is my biggest fish when compared to the several 10+ pounder's on my picture wall behind my desk in my classroom.

Re: Trolling Motor pull cord replacment
You can always go up one size in rope and buy it in bulk. This will last many years. This will give you an extra cord for your boat tool box in case of emergencies. Also, lube the pivots on your mount regularly. It makes me cringe when guys have to stomp on their mount when pulling the cord. Lack of...

Are they paying Chatterbait or did they get around it with the differences? That Revenge bluegill color is a great color in blades too. I caught 23 fish in 26 casts, including 17 in a row, on a single colorado bladed spinnerbait in the same color last fall.

Doug Hannon taught me a lot when I was a kid. Reading stories of him stealthily stalking ten pounders in Florida taught how to camoflauge myself and what colors to throw. Many sight fisherman still haven't figured this out. He loved the Rapala Floating minnows and that was one of our "secret&qu...

Re: Best gel coat cleaner/wax ?
It seems like this topic comes up every few months on the forums. Research it. Peregrine 250 is probably the most popular response, but remember anything that has a cleaner with abrasives eventually wears away at the clear coat. You will need a high speed buffer to take out the small scratches that ...

Hey, Pappy. Thank you, too. Either way, I'm gonna need a millimeter meter to measure that. No measurements needed. Just buy one each of the popular tip sizes from Mudhole, along with tip glue, a razor blade, and a lighter, and keep them in your boat for emergencies. Every serious angler should have...

Way too many of those 3-5lb fish have been ridiculously skinny over the last two years Pete. They must die and sink to the bottom. They are already skeletons. The three fish limit usually favors swinging for the fences with big reaction baits. The big bait guys will most likely dominate the standings this year, unless the fishing stays brutally tough. 100% fluorocarbon lines should be denser (therefore more sensitive) and sink faster. I believe P-Line Fluoroclear and Lake Fork are two of the coated lines. The Lake Fork line has more stretch than any line I have ever tried and lacks even basic sensitivity. It does handle amazing because it is so s...

Denny and Chad Brauer claim to flip the 25lb. most of the time. Tatsu does have good knot strength for a fluoro. It's a solid fluoro, but there are better fluoros for the price in my opinion.

Those of us that have the Phillips bar know how much more solid it is. You basically have to cut the boat to get it out. I would have a Loc R Bar if they didn't exist. Any protection is good, but the Loc R Bar is fairly easy to bend with the right tool. An alarm system with a remote that tells you i...
