I use an ESOX Rod models 70DD or 70BQ. Both are 7' with either meduim/heavy or medium action with a moderate/fast tip. They have a excellent action and castability and di an excellent job of transmits the vibration and feel of the chatter bait.

Myself and other members of the River City Bass Masters from Sacramento have previously participated as boaters for the Delta Teen Team tournaments. It was a lot of fun.

Do you have a carburated, EFI or Optimax model? If it's carburated or EFI it's going to emit smoke. You can check with a Mercury dealer to see if using Mercury oil will make a difference or not. If you have an Optimax it should only emit a small amount of smoke when it's cold.

You went to the right person for info on your prop. Gary Peeler is very knowledgable. You never said what your speeds were with the four blade. I'm guessing that it must have been around 77-78 MPH because you said that the three blade was 3-4 MPH slower.

I think that Mark Inman of Lefty's Lures would probably have some ideas for you. He will probably need some information on the lakes i.e. the primary species of bass, structure, depth, time of year you are talking about, your preferred equipment etc.
