No doubt about it, thieves suck! If we are going to travel with our rigs, about all we can do is make stealing more difficult and have good insurance. The baby monitor idea is an excellent one. I also like the Loc-R-Bar, have had one on two previous boats: https://www.amazon.com/Loc-R-Bar-Alarm-Syst...

Question about Pond Smelt in Winter
I fish Lake Oroville quite a bit along with Collins Lake and Camp Far West. In the last month or so I have often caught spotted bass that are spitting up pond smelt or even have a mouth full of them. When this has happens I typically use my electronics to search for bait in the water column. Earlier...

Yes, the fishing has been pretty good. Target bait fish, if you don't see bait on your graph, keep moving. Not saying you won't catch any if you don't see bait, but it definitely improves your chances. We have been catching fish from right on the bank out to about 30 feet. Water has been falling abo...

And, the fishing at Lake Oroville is great right now. Not unusual for a pair of anglers to catch 100 in a day. There will be some dinks in the lot, but a lot of solid 14-16" fish too. They are fat and strong. The recent cold snap slowed things down for reaction and topwater, but small plastics ...

Re: Big bass
I second Collins lake, they do regular trout plants and the lake is close enough to you to do last minute trips. Get good rain gear and consider going out in stormy weather. Use good sense to be safe, but those big fish and others often get active as fronts come in. Also consider going over to East ...

Since you appear to be a novice as far as bass fishing goes, I would save jigs for "Phase Two." You also said Berryessa and North so you will be fishing lakes, mostly reservoirs and maybe Clear Lake. The best way to learn is to get bites so that's what I base my recommendations on. 3/8 and...

Before there were Co-Anglers there were Pro/Am events and before that there were Pro-Pro events where two pros fished from the same boat and split the day.
