Re: Guess the Winning Weight Contest
How about 43.2 at 11:59 on the 24th. Since DD had 43.11. Its all in good fun. I fish SM 1-2 times a week, so I had a better then average chance of guessing the weight.

I think you and Pete misunderstood my post. It was an informative post not a guess. I was at the weigh in and made the post to let everyone know the two day total. I guess it was not obvious enough for some. My guess was posted over a week ago. BTW Until the 24th I was the winner. I guess nex...

What is your application? The different brands have different characteristics. The P-Line FC, Halo, is a good line, but it is stiff and does not work well on spin reels unless downsized.

I agree a copyright would offer no protection. What about a utility or design patent? The function might be unique or the shape might be artistic. Without a patent anyone can copy and retail the design. The name could easily be protected at anytime, but once the protect goes to market without a pate...

Do these original companies actually have a legal right to sue? If I make an exact copy of a bait that is not patented could the original manufacture sue me?
It seems that the manufacturer might have benefited by invested in the services of a manufacturing engineer.

I tend to agree that original products are usually better. Although second best is better then nothing. Basstrix should have covered the market better or licensed the product/name to someone with a larger infrastructure.

Unfortunately Basstrix did not cover the market well and there are now 2-3 companies producing similar products that will be available in the next few weeks. I believe the market will be covered fairly well and maybe saturated.

It seems most of the people who have posted are in agreement. The TD made several bad decisions and was in the wrong as far as the law is concerned. The TDs negligence caused harm to the anglers. The DFG did their job, but maybe they could have gone about it in different way that might have prevente...

Re: Best "heavy" line to use on a spinning reel
On my Stradic 2500's I could not run 12# FC with a .012" dia without problems. A limber small diameter mono like XL is probably your best bet if your after the largest # rating. 20# braid might also be an option.

Re: Pros and Cons of Mono!
How about pitting a good quality fluoro against the average mono? :) Good FC cost severals times more then mono. Even though I bet the best of both would be more equal then most would like to admit. Mono is just not in vogue at this time. IMO Sometimes spending more on gear boosts ones confidence. ...

Re: Pros and Cons of Mono!
FC is not really more abrasion resistant, more transparent or less stretchy then mono. Good quality mono is probably stronger and more abrasion resistant than the average FC. Re: Pros and Cons of Mono!
Relative to FC it has a lower density. This makes it have more of a bow or a curved path to the bait when used in sub-surface applications. The lower density might make mono better for top water presentations. FC and mono have about the same mechanical attributes, similar stretch and strength. FC ca...

The stained water could be making it less visible then needed. Try running it deeper with a slower retrieve. Also try letting it settle, dead stick it, and then start your retrieve with a good bump. Good luck.
