Dumbist thing I ever did on the water....

Last month I hit top speed on my old Skeeter on Hodges moving from point A to point B. Something flew past my face and into the water and I soon realized it was my transportable Piranha 10 depth finder I had won at an Aim Marine expo. I turned real fast to see if I could get it before it sank,...

I figure it takes so long to get one (a really big bass) you don't really want to lose it when you get it. :( And for tournament fishermen that means every one. I had to get the Stowmaster after doing my research on the web a couple of years ago or so. Mine does not have that fancy grip but that's o...

It, like Otay, closes every year from end of October till February or March. Otay had duck hunting but the homes are up to it now on one area so I don't know if they will still have it. Barrett has an even shorter season by about one month on each end.

I did not fish the tourney but I fished there that day. John Kerr and Mike Long won it by about 5 lbs or more, as far as I know. 17.9, and the closest I heard was about 12! Most bags ran 6 to 10.

I barely beat you with a 8.40 on a topwater popper at Otay when I was quite young. I'd like to join that 10 pound club and was planning to and had to cancel my Clearlake trip for a little while. The lovely wife decided the drive/trip from San Diego was a bit too much for only four days, oh well.

I fished Clearlake only once, and because of the distance, brought the aluminum boat that, at that time, only had a trolling motor on it. Topwater is my favorite style of fishing. I've really spent most of my fishing hours (many, many days of hours) in the p...
