Sidescan?

Hey guys, I'm in the process of upgrading my electronics right now I have a elite 5x on bow and a elite 5 dsi on the console and I need bigger and better but not crazy expensive! I found the hook 9s for a good price but there lacking networking and sidescan. I can live without networking but not sure how important sidescan is for me? I mostly fish freshwater lakes, structure from the bank to 50-60 ft in cold months! I'm old school started with a flasher then paper graph to lcd so this is confusing to say the least with chirp, dsi, ss, and now mega! I believe for me 2d, dsi and chirp are a must for me but I have never used the other! Any help would be appreciated
