I have an LCX37C unit... I have a power cable that is a NMEA 0183. Seems to power up unit. Do I need the NMEA 2000 that has 3 wires in power/Data plug to function properly, or will this 2 wire NMEA 0183 work?
And this may seem like a dumb question but does the NMEA starter kit have everything needed, or is the power cable separate.
My intention is to mount on bow.. I have an adapter to connect to Motorguide digital.. I plan on running network cable back to GPS puck that is powering my LMS332. I'm hoping there is a splitter so I can use the single puck to work both units.. I hooked the LCX37C up to the puck and worked great, just not hooked together right now, or yet.
I know several questions here. I appreciate the help.

Re: power cable LCX37C
The two wire power cable will power up your LCX 37 C. The NMEA network can get it's power from a power node in the NMEA network. A power node is a tee that is connected to other tees or cables in the network that has a power (red) and a ground (black) wires coming out of the top of the tee. These are connected to a power and ground source anywhere in the boat to give power to the NMEA network.
The old three wire power cable you had before had a slightly larger wire in it. This was the power cable to the head unit. The NMEA 2000 cable, one of the smaller wires, was the one when connected would send power through the head unit to the NMEA network. It doesn't matter how you power the NMEA network as long as it gets power. So, the power node is the answer if you can only get ahold of a newer two wire power cable.
