Wolfeman, I listened, so I will try, but this is only some of it.
The two people in support of the Tunnels talked in generalities, and said the Tunnels were part of a long term solution to our water supply issues. They said the current laws would protect the Delta from environmental harm, but they said they were trying to get Federal Govt. to support them. To me, it sounded like they want the Federal Govt. to override State law.
Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla said the Tunnels were just to give water to the San Joaquin farmers who raise water intensive crops for export, not for our own food supply. She said the funding for the Tunnels was not in place, and that the water districts which were supposed to provide forty percent of that funding were already over-extended, and didn't have the credit rating to borrow money to cover their share.
She also said the money spent so far on the Tunnels could have been better spent on local conservation efforts, and ground water capture.
The issue of sea level rise was discussed. She said the Tunnels would do nothing to protect the Delta from rising sea levels, and the other two said that should be part of a larger discussion.
She is very articulate.

Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla is really our champion. She speaks for us and anyone who is interested in saving the delta and the delta fishery/estuary. I am unaware of ANYONE who is more knowledgeable about the delta and all the players involved who want to steal water from the delta.

I would encourage everyone here to regularly visit to http://restorethedelta.org/ and keep up with the current news and challenges we face to save our fishery and wildlife habitat.

I am at B&W a couple of weekends every month. It's pretty clear that anglers have a lot of $$ tied up in their boats , electronics, rods, reels, clothes, trucks, etc. If you guys value your fishing, please don't make the mistake of not supporting this organization (or another similar organization). We cannot afford to lose this battle, especially for future generations.

After Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla finishing beating these politicians back on this issue, we need to get her to be the spokesperson for us fisherman.

Why haven't the SF Bay conservation groups joined in this fight in a greater manner. If the freshwater is shutoff the Bay dies. Period.

I'm listening to the blog. It's a study in how politicians avoid answering questions. They talk about how the water level will rise 5 feet in 100 years. These are the same folks who deny that global warming exists.
