Anyone fish Camanche over the weekend?

Post by bustout »

Did you do any good? Any tips? I heard that the river arm is very muddy whereas the rest of the lake is pretty clear. Also, it has risen about 20ft in the last 2 weeks. Shall I focus deep on existing structures or fish newly flooded areas

thanks in advance

Yes you are correct on upriver being super muddy, even though releases from Pardee look fairly clear. The lake has risen almost 20 ft, however they dumped about 10 ft off during the big storm so the net improvement is only like 10'. Don't worry, the bass have moved up with the rising water. Just go fishing. Surface temps are in the low 50's. Today it won't be hard to find 54-55 degree water.

They say it's going to fill, and I've never seen it full. Let's release those spawners, give'em the best chance at an incredible spawn!

I was out there last Friday 2/10 the main lake was pretty clear but getting muddy the closer to the river I was. There's a lot of wood in the water so be careful when you are running. The fishing was surprisingly tougher than it had been. I threw a-rigs nothing, under spins nothing, spinnerbaits in the brush boated a couple little spots. I also tried to slow down with jigs and drop shot with no takers. In the few trips before last weekend we had a lot of success rippin tubes up getting fish to react. Hope this gives you a starting point. Knock them dead!

I fished there Sunday 2/12 from my Kayak. We focused on the main lake around the causeway and adjacent points. Nothing on reaction baits. We finally found a school in the afternoon on a secondary point. They bit the dropshot and shakey head pretty good. Between two of us we caught 7-8 spots and a couple Largies to 4lbs. Keitech easy shaker in pro blue and green pumpkin worked. We were sitting in 20-25ft and casting into 6-15ft.
