Breaking That DD Barrier

Post by Chad Sweitzer »

Hey everyone,
I just got my first DD, a 10.91. . . only took me 18 years of bass fishing! Haha! I was curious, did most of you guys who have multiple 10+ pounders notice them coming easier after a while? What was your fist DD, and when?

Hi,

I have had 4 DD fish, it took me years to break the DD coming very close but not quite. I moved up to NorCal about 15 years ago, first trip on the delta boom DD, first trip to Berry Boom 10lber, two years later two DD fish on the Delta.

So yes I do think that there are certain size hurdles that Anglers have 1st five pounder, first fish over 8, DD and then Teener. But once you break the barrier it does seem that more generally start coming your way especially if you're fishing in lakes that hold em

Congrats on yours. and to answer your question. Yes I think they come easier after the first one IF you are aware of what got you there in the first place. I find I catch more big fish now, but I fish in a style that catches bigger fish.

Good luck on the water, hope you catch many more.

It took me a long time to break the DD barrier. Figured out last year that if you fish the delta and clear lake as much as possible during pre-spawn and spawn then there's a good chance of catching a bass over 10 lbs. Even if you don't break the 10# mark your gonna catch a bunch in the 5-8 lb class.

It took me a very long time to get my first DD which was a year ago this past March. It was a 12.2. Two months later I caught a 11.03 and a 10.08 pounder so I went my whole life without getting one to catching 3 in a three month stretch so now that you got your first you will get more haha. Good luck!!
