South Bay Water Bills Could Increase as Delta Tunnels Project Moves Forward

Post by WB Staff »

California Gov. Jerry Brown's twin tunnels project in the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta could receive a significant boost thanks to one Bay Area water district, but that extra help could result in higher water bills for some customers in the South Bay.

While the Contra Costa Water District discusses the future of the project later Wednesday, the Santa Clara Valley Water District will vote on the amount of money it will allocate toward the project — a decision that could ultimately increase water bills for folks in the South Bay in the coming decades.

The Santa Clara Valley Water District vote postponed until next week.
Just a few days ago, the Calif Water Resources Board stated the SCVWD vote has nothing to do with potential funding of the new Pacheco dam by the State..... now this comes out in yesterdays meeting in Santa Clara:

"The board is scheduled to resume their discussion on May 8, despite Chair Santos’s request to delay the vote to July when SCVWD would receive confirmation of funding for Pacheco Dam"

No end to the lies and sleazy deals ..... take a good look at the map in the original post and ask yourself what 15 years of construction is going to do to the Delta.

Going to be straight through the heart or the delta. Honestly it’s very upsetting that all they worry about is how to get all the water from our area shipped down south. Hopefully something drastic will happen to make this not take place.

About a year ago I made a modest donation to some lobbiest group that fights the tunnels movement, but I can't remember who it was?
