Emergency #'s for accidents

Post by fishercurtis »

The boat accident got me thinking about what would I do If I saw the accident. I realized I don't have any numbers to call on my cell besides 911. What other numbers might be wise to have. Or channels on a hand held shortwave. Never know these days what you might need out there on the Delta for my saftey and yours.

And speaking of emergency numbers, is anyone a member of Vessel Assist and have you ever had to use their vessel towing services?

Edited to add: Looks like SOCB posted re Vessel Assist the same time I did...I guess at the very least, Vessel Assist membership gives you that extra peace of mind.

How much is a Vessell assist membership? Does it kinda work like AAA for your car?

The Coast Guard is also on the 9-1-1 system now. So if you don't program the numbers into your cel phone, good ol' 9-1-1 will summon the SAR Dawgs as well.

Here are the numbers for dispatch to the counties patrolling the Delta. It is much quicker to call dispatch directly. 911 on a cell phone in this area (Contra Costa Delta) should send you to CHP-Golden Gate in Vallejo, where they will transfer you to the appropriate County dispatch.

Contra Costa S/O – #925-646-2441
San Joaquin S/O - #209-468-4400
Sacramento S/O - #916-874-5111
