Just stripped a wheel stud on my 2005 Duramax..Anyone know if this is a quick fix or if you have to pull the whole thing apart to reach the stud?
Thanks

Re: NFR : Chevy Duramax Wheel Stud ?
I have a 2001 HD2500 and the tire shop broke one off. After they found the right one they pulled the axle out and removed the hub and bearings it took them a 1/2 hr to beat the old out and new in.

I had a feeling I was going to have to pull everything apart..I called the dealer and they give me a time estimate of 1 to 11/2 hours...Gets expensive..I live in brentwood if anyone knows of a better place then the dealer..
Re: NFR : Chevy Duramax Wheel Stud ?
I have a 03 duramax. I havnet had to do anything but regular service to mine.
i have been driving Chevy trucks for 30 plus trucks now.
On older models there was a hole in the backing plate so you could rotate the axle hub's broken stud over the hole & then use a punch / driver to knock it out.
the new stud would then slide thru the hole into the axle flange.
