The guys user name is DOG, I never seen him in the forum before but I would like to know as well. This lake coughed up an 18 and a 17 in less than a month! WOW!

Rudy (DOG) has been around a long time. I knew him back about 6-7 years ago when I was a member of Castro Valley Bass Classics. He may still be active in the club ( wish I had the time), none the less he has been at this game a long time. When I knew him he made a lot of jigs the guys in the club would purchase.

My guess is he released it from his tube. Otherwise, you would have seen some photos from the shore. Whether he released it or not, congratulations Rudy! That must have been something to reel in while in a tube.

Trying to judge the weight of a fish in a picture is dicey at best..Kinda like guessing the abe of someone having nothing more than their voice over the telephone..Sure, you are gonna guess right some of the time, especially if you play the game a lot..It would not surprise me if that bass was larger than 17..It most certainly looks larger than a ten in my opinion..Any way you want to look at it, it is an awesome catch..

It looks a lot bigger then 10 to me, but it is hard to tell with pics, and angles sometimes. Whatever it is, its still a pig...

nice fish!

Why would anyone question the size of this fish? It is obviously bigger than most on this forum have caught.......Let the guy live his glory. He caught a monster! That fish is wayy over 10 from what I can see. Sure they are bad pics but what the heck, it is still a fish of a lifetime. Hopefully it is still swimming for someone else to catch someday.

I knew there would be some issues with the actual size and weight of my bass.
All I can say is I did not have a scale with me but a guy that was close by let me use his digital scale. He was fishing in a pontoon boat and is actually the one that took that pic with my cam phone. He had with him a 20lb digital scale, I think it was a Rapala scale. he saw the weight as well as I did and the scale read 17lb 1oz. I even asked him how accurate is the scale and he said he put a known weight on it and it read true. I know it is not cert but I just printed what I saw. I dont care about trying to " BE THE MAN " I could care less.
This was just before my bitthday and I really had a great day on the water. Nobody can change that. I just wanted to share a great experiance with my fellow bassers.
The beautiful female bass was quickly realeased so you guys gan have a shot at her and I hope she can spawn and keep the bass population strong. Tahnks for your support..Tight lines.

Dont sweat the haters! They will always be around hatin' when you accomplish what they claim to be impossible! Awesome catch! Congratulations! Johns 18 was one of the sickest fish ive seen out of there. The under bite and make up of the fish was truly unique. What a bunch of pigs in such a short time!!!!!!!! Congratulations again dog on a fantastic catch!!

I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS THAT DOG, WHO POSTED 6 POSTS ABOVE THIS ONE, IS WHO CAUGHT THE FISH, NOT ME! I JUS SHOUTED IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS FIRST BECAUSE IT IS A VERY LOCAL LAKE TO ME AND I'M PROUD OF WHAT IT HAS TO OFFER.

Good for you, thats how it should be. These boards go through this guess my weight, yes it is, no it isn't stuff every single time a big fish is posted. If I ever catch a monster I'm prepared for it already.

Congratulations!!!

No doubt, that fish weighs exactly what DOG said it weighs. Congratulations to you for catching a fish of a lifetime!

For critics claiming if you caught that fish you would have gotten a better photo, it doesnt always work out that way. Especially when you are fishing from a float tube and doubly especially when you are fishing by yourself. Think about that for a moment, then think about it a little more before your criticize somebody elses lifetime achievement.

We all thank you for releasing that fish! :D

Couldn't have said it better Steve. Sometimes you CAN'T get a better photo or don't know the photo you took isn't going to do he fish justice. Look at the photo of Barrack's big fish from a week or so ago. That photo didn't show that fish well either.

Never ceases to amaze me how many negative posts we get to someone who just caught their fish of a lifetime. What a bunch of haters. Totally insensitive to the angler AND it'll surely keep some folks from coming on here and posting a photo of a fish that many of us would like to see.

To the rest of you, thankfully the majority, that gave DOG some love for catching a biggun' on his birthday, thanks so very much. That's the spirit we like to see.

Congratulations Dog!!!! That's a heckuva bass!!!

Maybe you should carry some high end photo equipment with you next time some how mounted to your tube,or have a camara crew follow you around next time , so we can avoid any controversy.

I was thinking about attaching my camera on the end of a stick. That way when I'm tubing I can just set the camera on a timer and take a pic of myself. Only question is, how long of a stick to I need? Maybe I can make an attachment for my swimbait stick and use that!

BTW... Great fish Dog! I haven't been to Shadow since I got that damn ticket. :x
